Society for Italian Studies 2011 Biennial Conference
Second Call for Panels and Papers

At this critical moment for Italian studies, both
in the UK and beyond, this conference has a particularly
important role to play in taking stock of current research,
and in helping to identify future directions in the field.
Presentations at the conference should therefore discuss
work in progress, and we will particularly welcome panels
and papers that contribute to a broader discussion of the
future of research in Italian studies.

Proposals for panels should focus on work in progress
in any field of Italian Studies. Panels should be made up
of three papers of no more than 20 minutes and each panel
session should not exceed 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Participants should note from the outset that time limits
will need to be adhered to. Panel proposals for consecutive
sessions are welcome, although programming constraints
mean that it may be necessary to restrict the number
of such sessions in the programme.

Preferably, panel proposals should include:
- Title of the panel
- Name, affiliation, and contact information of the
   panel organizer
- The topic and issues to be discussed in the panel
- Names and affiliations of panellists (in addition to
the panel organizer) who have made a commitment to participate

Please send your panel proposals by Friday 4th of February.
After that date the full list of panels will be made public and
anyone interested in offering a paper to a proposed panel
should contact the panel's organizer directly.

We will also be considering individual papers. So please send us
your abstract (ca 250 words) including your name and affiliation,
the title of your paper and a brief biography by Friday 25th March.

Please send your proposals by email to
sis2011 at st-andrews.ac.uk
